A peaceful three-bedroom, three-bath escape designed for couples and small groups of friends. Hidden behind a private gate and framed by flowering gardens where daisies bloom and seasonal fireflies flicker at dusk, the cottage feels secluded yet is only one-kilometre to Gallery Walk and just minutes from Tamborine Mountain’s famed rainforest trails.
Step through the door and feel an instant sense of ease. Inside, farmhouse-cottage warmth unfolds with soft textures, timber accents and generous windows that draw the gardens in. Three comfortable bedrooms give everyone their own retreat, with two private ensuites and a third bathroom featuring a classic clawfoot bathtub for long, indulgent soaks. A wood-burning fireplace anchors the living room, setting the scene for evenings of wine, conversation and slow living.
The kitchen is built for real cooking and relaxed entertaining, with a gallery layout, a butler’s pantry and quality dinnerware. From breakfast to long evening meals, the large weather-proof wrap-around verandah is the heart of the home—perfect for barbecues, coffee at sunrise or unwinding after a day of exploring.
Spend your days wandering Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, browsing the cafés and boutiques of Gallery Walk, or discovering nearby waterfalls and rainforest lookouts. Return to the glow of the fireplace and the gentle sparkle of fireflies in the garden (in firefly season). With its quiet setting and thoughtful touches, Firefly Cottage offers the ideal balance of comfort, privacy and mountain adventure. Tamborine Mountain is surrounded by boutique wineries, distilleries and craft breweries. It also forms part of the Scenic Rim—named one of the world’s top ten regions to visit by Lonely Planet. Firefly Cottage places you at the heart of this celebrated food and wine destination.
Guests have exclusive access to the entire cottage and gardens, with simple self-check-in via a secure lockbox.
Please note, Firefly Cottage is designed for adults and is not suitable for children under 12, pets or parties. Firewood is provided during winter months, with additional supply available on request.
During your stay, the entire cottage and its gardens are exclusively yours. Please note: the shed at the rear of the property is for owner storage and is not accessible to guests.
Perfect for: • Romantic weekends • Solo resets • Creative retreats • Winter fireplace stays • A few days off the grid
There’s something about mountain air that makes everything soften. At Firefly Cottage, mornings begin slowly. Light filters through the trees, the kettle hums in the kitchen, and you step out onto the verandah wrapped in a blanket, coffee in hand. This is a place for unhurried conversation — or quiet reflection. For books half-read on the sofa. For cooking something simple while music plays softly in the background. By afternoon, the clawfoot bath is calling — a long soak with the windows cracked open to let in the cool hinterland breeze. And when evening falls, the fireplace flickers to life. Wine is poured. A journal is opened. The world feels far away. Whether you’re escaping with someone special or taking time just for yourself, Firefly offers space to breathe.
Thoughtfully styled with warm textures, natural tones and moody interiors, the cottage blends character and comfort with a sense of quiet luxury. Come up the mountain. Slow down. Stay awhile.

Welcome to Firefly Cottage. These guidelines help keep the cottage safe, clean and peaceful for all guests.
1. Kitchen Care – When cooking, please turn on the range hood above the stove. Wash, dry (or use the dishwasher) and return all dishes to their place so the kitchen stays tidy.
2. Bathrooms – Leave bathrooms clean and tidy. Each guest is provided with towels for the duration of their stay; please hang them to dry between uses.
3. Eco-friendly amenities – We provide organic body wash, shampoo and conditioner plus all-natural, eco-friendly dishwashing products. Our cleaning practices use only natural, non-toxic products—thank you for helping us care for the mountain.
4. Wildlife & Insects – Being on Tamborine Mountain means birds and insects are part of daily life. To minimise bugs indoors, please keep unscreened doors and windows closed and store food in the kitchen.
5. Lights & Power – Switch off lights, fans and heating when not in use. Please also turn off outdoor lights at night unless needed for safety (especially during firefly season [late Aug - Early Oct).
6. Verandah Safety – The wrap-around verandah can become slippery in wet weather. Please take care.
7. Shoes Inside – Leave shoes at the door to keep floors clean, protect timber finishes and keep the red dirt out.
8. Parking – Park only on the concrete driveway inside the gate.
9. Fireplace Use – Read the fireplace instructions in the house manual before use. Firewood is supplied in June and July; for other times please contact us to arrange supply if available.
10. BBQ Use - Guests are welcome to use the BBQ during their stay. If you choose to use the BBQ, it is your responsibility to clean it thoroughly after use and return it to the same condition it was in prior to use. If the BBQ is left dirty or requires additional cleaning, an additional cleaning fee will apply.
